How many people will immigrate to Canada in 2009?

According to introduction data released by Citizenship and Immigration, Canada greeted an extraordinary number of permanent and temporary residents in the year 2008.

Canadian Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney said that even as other countries are talking about reducing the number of immigrants, Canada improved the number of new permanent residents to Canada.

Canada greeted 247,202 permanent residents in the year 2008 which was well inside the government’s intended range of 240,000 to 265,000 new permanent residents for the year. Further 79,459 foreign students and 193,061 temporary foreign workers resulted in a collective total of 519,722 newcomers in Canada for the year 2008.

The high number of temporary foreign workers discloses increased manpower demand in the Canadian labor market last year. The appointment of temporary foreign workers is based on labor market demand and employers’ needs.

Canadian minister of Immigration also added that the Canadian government will not go after the recommendation of those who think that Canada must take steps to decrease immigration levels. Canada is maintaining its planned immigration levels for 2009.

Work Permit of Canada

A person who is not a Canadian resident or citizen and who is planning to work in Canada is usually required to obtain a work permit or other approval that he is lawfully doing so. Such permission may arrive in different forms, and requires sophisticated approval prior to eligibility to go into Canada for work.

A Canadian work permit is a provisional resident visa issue by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to award authorization to foreign workers looking for employment in Canada. It usually has maximum authority of up to one year, though work permits can be issued for up to three years in a few cases.

How can I get a Work Permit of Canada?

You have to produce a job offer letter from a Canadian employer to obtain a work permit of Canada. A job offer can be through any company that needs the services of a foreign person in Canada.
Pre-requisites of job offer letter from a Canadian Employer:
The job offer is supposed to include the details of the post being offered, it may be in shape of Canadian appointment letter and includes;
  1. The designation of the post being required in Canada.
  2. The tasks linked with that position.
  3. Compensation for employment.
  4. The length of the position.
  5. Location of the company.

Depending on the precise type of the work permit request, extra details or supporting credentials may have to be incorporated.

The work permit procedure may go long because some applicants for a Canadian work permit will be requisite to go through a medical examination for issuance of Canadian visa earlier.

Canadians of East Indian origin compose of one of the major non-European national groups in Canada. If truth be told, people of East Indian basis make up the tenth biggest ethnic group in Canada. East Indian Canadians also make up the second biggest non-European ethnic society in the country. In 2002, more than 710,000 people of Indian origin were living in Canada with a 2.4% of the total Canadian population.

The majority of Indo-Canadian community lives in two major provinces i.e. Ontario and British Columbia where 60% of Indian population lives in Ontario. As far as the major Indo-Canadian cities are concern, they are Toronto and Vancouver.

The majority of Indian population living in Canada is young and bilingual. Indians feel sense of belonging in Canada and proudly identify them as east Indians.

Indian Restaurants in Canada:

Indo-Canadian community always prefers to visit Indian restaurants rather than fast food. They often have the taste of Chinese food. Indian restaurants in Canada spread all over the country but most Indian restaurants can found at restaurants Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.

History of immigration to Canada

After the early period of French and British colonization, four main waves of immigration of non-resident peoples took place over a time of approximately two centuries. The fifth wave is ongoing at this time.

The first major and non-aboriginal immigration to Canada happened over about two centuries with sluggish but progressive French settlement at Acadia and Quebec with slighter numbers of American and European capitalists in addition to British military people.

The successive waves of Canadian Immigration History were of Britain and Irish that were motivated to settle in Canada after the War of 1812, which comprised British army patrons who had served up in the war, by the royal governors of Canada, who were concerned about another American assault and to counter the French-speaking pressure of Quebec, rushed to encourage resolution in backward country areas along newly constructed plank roads within prepared land areas, mostly in Upper Canada. It is existing Ontario.

Within the second immigration wave, Irish immigration to Canada had been growing when the Irish Potato food shortage occurred from 1846 to 1849 resulting in hundreds of thousands more Irish arriving on Canada's coast, although a major portion migrated to the US over the following decades.

These intense waves of immigration coming regularly from continental Europe sharp in 19101913 (over 410,000 in 1913) and again in 1957 (285,000) making Canada a multicultural country with considerable non-French or non-English speaking populations.

Since the 1970s, Canada immigration history has changed tremendously because of visible minorities from the developing countries, since limitations on non-white immigrants were altogether removed. imigration levels were increased more by the late 1980s which have been uphold with slight fluctuations since (220,000275,000 annually). Currently, the majority of immigrants are coming from South Asia and China and this trend is probable to continue.

Where Should I file my Immigration case?

People who are not living in their native country are often confused about which Canada Immigration Office to apply for.

The regulation is that you may apply in any one of two places i.e. the Canada Immigration Office responsible for your country of residence or your country of citizenship.

But if you have been legally entered to your country of current residence for at least twelve months, you may apply through your country of residence.

This regulation has some big advantages. For instance, if the office in your country of citizenship has long wait times for Canadian immigration, and the situation is opposite in your country of residence then you must apply from your country of residence.

Another good tip is that you don’t need to be lived in your country of residence for twelve months before applying; you only need to have been admitted there for at least twelve months. This means you can apply for Canadian immigration once you arrive in your country of residence with your twelve month work permit.

Canada Immigration and CAIPS

CAIPS is acronym of "Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System”. CAIPS includes all the determinations made by a visa officer evaluating your file, in addition to concern the Canadian visa officer may have on your file.

It is at all times a good idea to ask for the CAIPS notes on your file if processing of your immigration case is taking longer than likely. For instance, most probably Citizenship and Immigration Canada is waiting for information from your side and you by no means received the request. Or maybe the visa officer has a concern about the authority of a document but you were not at all informed.

CAIPS let you to see concerns with your application which you can rapidly deal with by communication with the office managing your immigration application.

If you are called for an interview you should obtain your CAIPS which will likely disclose why the interview was called and which concerns the Canadian visa officer will discuss with you.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will send CAIPS to a Canadian address or to a spokesperson in Canada. If you are not residing in Canada there are some firms who will get CAIPS for you for a fee.

History of Canada !

Canada is world's second largest country occupying the most area of Northern North America. Canada has her land borders with the United States to the south and northwest.

The land of Canada was populated for millennia by a mixture of groups of native people. Commencement from the late 15th century, British and French travel around and later on established there. At the Atlantic coast, France ceded nearly all of its colonies in North America in 1763 after the Seven Years' War.

In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies from side to side amalgamation, Canada came into being as a federal dominion of four provinces. This began an accumulation of additional provinces and territories and a procedure of growing sovereignty from the United Kingdom.

A confederation including 10 provinces and 3 territories, Canada is a constitutional dominion and a parliamentary democracy, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. It is a multicultural and bilingual country, with both French and English as official languages at the national level. Industrially advanced and developed, Canada maintains an expanded economy that is deeply dependent upon its rich natural resources and upon foreign trade predominantly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and multifaceted association. It is a member of the NATO, G8, the Commonwealth of Nations and the United Nations.
